This is the yarn I wanted Noro Kureyon Sock to be.  The gorgeous gradual color shifts.  The soft squishiness.  The lack of vegetable matter in the yarn.  The lack of "thick and thin"-ness.

This is Patons Kroy Socks FX, and it's half the price of Noro.  And just as gorgeous, in my opinion.  And much easier to work with.  Since these are manly socks for Christmas, I wasn't sure if I would have enough (OK--Noro has better yardage) I decided to make the heels and toes black.  It was a good decision, I think.  I finished up this sock yesterday, and while I might have had enough for the heel, I wouldn't have had enough for both, but now it looks intenional, because it was.

  • I was going to show you photos of a sock in progress today.  But the darned thing isn't letting me upload them and I don't feel like loading them to flickr and importing them here, so we'll just wait until tomorrow.

A feminine Christmas sock made it to Applebees for the Veteran's Day special they had, and it got worked on a good bit.  Then a trip over the bridge to find some pet de-stink (because the cats have a couple of spots they like to mark as theirs, and I don't care for how they mark them) and a printer cartridge and...Barnes and Noble.  I was good--I only got two books, one the third in a trillogy that I already have the other two of, and one sock knitting book--that will probably see some work before Christmas.  And I also made it down to the heel of a manly Christmas sock.  Hooray?

  • It's the first nor'easter of the year.  It sucks.  It's going to be grey, wet, and cold for the next few days, and I don't like it.

On the up-side, I managed to get to the knitting at the library yesterday, and I finished up another quant.  And the Christmas socks are going well.

jewels close up Here's the threatened photo of some recent spinning.  This is the Louet roving in Desert Flower colorway, if I remember correctly.  It came out a lot different from the roving, and I adore it.  I finally got it all plied yesterday--but it was being uncooperative, so there was a little lost yardage.  It still needs washing and whacking, but I think it's going to be a fingering to sport weight when it's done.

About Me

  • I'm currently a SAHM of an adorable little boy, the short person. I also have the hubby driving me crazy, and 3 cats that think it's fun to sit on my head while I'm trying to sleep. I play with all things fibery, so who knows what you might find on here?
